Just the Facts....

"There are no good or bad foods. Just foods I love and those I don't "
-Michelle May

Here is the truth about weight loss. diets, and spot reducing that your trainer never told you.

DIETS DON'T WORK.   Yes, you read that right.  Here's why you should never diet.
Food deprivation is unrealistic and unsustainable. Denying yourself the foods you enjoy is opening the door for failure. It's not your fault if you give up on diets.  Dieting is unnatural and the human mind is not equipped to understand food deprivation.  Restricting food intake can impact both physical and mental health.

There is no such thing as 'spot' reducing.  You can target individual MUSCLE groups but can not decide where weight loss will occur any more than you can decide where to gain it. Weight loss usually starts with the face and breast area, but over time as we age, that can change. Our body shapes are 80% genetic,  but with proper exercise and the tools to make good food choices, we can reduce fat, gain muscle, and reveal a thinner, stronger, more toned, you!  With a greater understanding of your food 'triggers', you can safely lose weight and sustain the weight loss.  No more yo-yo dieting.

Stress is a major contributor to weight gain, especially belly fat.   Cortisol, also known as the 'stress hormone,' is responsible for weight gain, fatigue, a lower immune system, and more.  Cortisol is a major contributor to belly fat in women. Reduce the cortisol levels, reduce the belly fat.  This is where exercise comes in. Let's look at some of the benefits of working out.

Exercise has been proven to reduce cortisol levels, lower blood pressure and blood sugar levels as well as lower cholesterol, and reduce stress.  Weight-bearing exercise can help reverse osteopenia and decrease the risk of osteoporosis.  Exercise can elevate mood, strengthen the heart muscle and improve your endurance.  It can improve sleep, reduce depression and sharpen mental focus.
Working out is the best, and most natural fountain of youth known to humankind.
