What is a coaching session? One thing it’s not; therapy.

Coaching works by unlocking the client’s full potential with the understanding that the client is the expert of their life, not the coach. No one knows you better than you. (Not even your mother). My job is to guide my client towards uncovering and acknowledging their strengths as they go through an empowering mental transformation. My job is to ask poignant questions that will give way to ‘Wow, Lisa. That’s a great question. Let me think about this for a moment’. I am not trying to ‘fix’ my client, nor am I spouting advice, criticizing or judging. My line of questioning is challenging without being condescending and is the catalyst that helps the client access their thoughts and discover their true selves.
Through this process, the client begins to build confidence and skills to move forward with their life. Each session is wrapped up with a homework assignment that will be an extension of the day’s revelations, until the next time when we continue this journey to self-actualization.
It’s an amazing and fulfilling journey that can open your eyes to the direction you want your life to go. ‘Today is the first day of the rest of your life’. Live your life the way you choose.
